Shapewear is like these masters of disguise which have been in the market for a very long time, however, they have gained popularity in the recent times due to the increase in its use by celebrities and increasing awareness amongst people. To put it in simple words, shapewear (body shapers or swimmers) are made up of a stretchy material such as lycra or spandex which helps in giving the body a more sleek and trimmed look. It not only hides those extra pounds from the major trouble areas of the body but also gives the body a more shapely and fine appearance. You can flatten or lift a particular part of your body and show it off with utmost confidence. Isn’t that a dream? Shapewear has really made our dreams come true for this time. Since they have recently gotten so famous, there are some burning questions that most people have, which stops them from getting one for themselves like which ones to buy? what size should be taken? what is the perfect material? 80 let me break it down problem at a time. 1. How to choose the right size? The common misconception is that if you take a smaller size, it'll squish it all way more and give an even slimmer look. However, THIS IS NOT TRUE! Wearing a size smaller will actually make it difficult for you to breath, leave those areas covered in wrinkles and make it even harder to get it on and off your body (yeah, like it wasn't difficult already?) This does not mean that taking a large size is going to help either because that will just not serve your purpose of wearing a shapewear in the first place. So how to know which is the right size? The obvious answer is that the one which makes you feel comfortable in it and lets you and your skin breathe. One more thing that is important but neglected by buyers is whether it is comfortable enough to sit down in that particular shapewear. Of course, we aren't going to be standing all the time and hence, it is important to test that out adequately before buying. The right size and fit have shown to help with back pains in a few cases as well, so that's like a bonus. But on the other hand, when you wear a tight shapewear, it may cause extreme compression of your skin and internal organs making day-to-day activities difficult to perform and can become a health hazard. 2. How to choose the right style? This is completely a personal choice depending on the area that you are trying to flatten or focus on. ln case you want to focus on only the lower half of the body then go for a sharper without the tank and if you want to have an overall slim and sleek appearance then go for the style which targets the torso as well as the lower half of your body. Most of them are seamless and won't show in case you are going out putting on a really cute bodycon dress. They are also made in different patterns - with straps, strapless, Jacey and sheer, giving you the option to choose the pattern according to your needs. 3. Is it a good idea to buy a shapewear online? Yes, online shopping is a little tricky when it comes to shapewear shopping, however, with the help of size charts and accurate measurements you can find the perfect size for you in no time. At such times, using a measuring tape to note down the body measurements really comes handy. Also, with the buyer-friendly return policies that most online stores have, you have the freedom to exchange the shapewear for a size smaller or larger or just return it altogether if it's not your thing. (However, I doubt that will happen because come on, who are we kidding? Shapewear are the best!) 4. Can I wear it to work or sleep in it? Contrary to the common notion, if you choose the right size and fit of shapewear for yourself, you can pretty much live in it. It is something that you will not electively do, but yes, there is no hard and fast rule that shapewear is only meant for special occasions and parties. You can wear it to work and even sleep in it as long as it does not hamper your routine. Do not compromise on your restroom visits just because you are lazy' to get out of the shapewear. However, if you are prone to acid refluxes, yeast infections and urinary tract infections, it is best to limit your usage of shapewear. So, that was as far as the common questions are concerned and hopefully, most of your doubts have been cleared with that. Shapewear is hands down a boon for women making them a woman's best friend. |
